Long identified as the dining room, probably because of the fireplace on the innermost wall, this room was originally designed to be a state room.
It is the apartment’s only room with a wooden coffered ceiling from which stand out the medallions portraying the figures of the four geniuses of Italian Art: Leonardo, Raphael, Titian and Michelangelo, interspersed with representations of the four seasons.
The cornice crowing the wall instead features the fathers of Italian literature: Dante, Petrarch, Virgil and Boccaccio.
